The Brief
A highlight in the art-world calendar, the Royal Academy of Arts hosts its Summer Exhibition Preview Party every year.
The cultural institution appointed Event Concept to produce the much-anticipated fundraising event. Under the theme of ‘reflection’, we designed and built bespoke staging elements from bars and food stations, to the iconic courtyard entrance.
The Delivery
A vibrant lighting palette illuminated the exterior of the surrounding buildings, and a large ‘RA’ installation floating in a metallic ball pool acted as a focal point for photos in the fabulous stone courtyard.
The geometric and multi-coloured carpet outside reflected the bespoke bars on the inside, which where decorated by colourful hexagonal designs and subtle RA branding. Pop-up bars with shiny balloons and geometric shapes within complimented the art on display.
The Inside Story
The great and the good of glitterati admired the eclectic array of works in the exhibition, including Alexa Chung, Kylie Minogue, Kelly Osborne, Laura Bailey and Peter Capaldi. Grayson Perry, dressed in a frothy pink dress, co-hosted the evening, while DJs Jodie Harsh, New Found Form and The Amazonica took to the decks, as well as James Bay providing a soulful live performance.
