The Challenge
We were approached by The COP26 Universities Network to produce a global online conference - Climate Exp0 - bringing together UK and Italian Universities and experts from across the world, to showcase and discuss the latest thinking around climate change, prior to the main UN Climate Change Conference COP26 in November.
A vital part of the event strategy was to maximise sustainability and inclusivity by holding the conference completely online.
Our Response
Having demonstrated the capabilities of our digital platform, EC Extend, we were tasked with creating a bespoke event microsite to host the event. A seamless and intuitive user journey and experience was vital to the overall success of the event that ran across five days.
We were tasked with scheduling and co-ordinating over 86 sessions, patching in each remote speaker into one of our control rooms, to allow all sessions to be professionally mixed with content and streamed to the event site.
After each live session, all content was made available on-demand, allowing users to dip in and out of the highlights.
The Experience
The conference was a huge success, with 68 website pages created and 74 hours of live stream shot and broadcast from the event platform, which was accessed by 5,500 users worldwide across the five days.
Behind the scenes, we utilised 4 control rooms and a 20-strong technical team and streamed to three digital stages, which hosted 550 speakers and committee members.
The result was a seamless transition between speakers and content and our event platform hosted policymakers, practitioners and academics from around the world in collaborating, sharing and debating climate change.
