St. Pancras Renaissance Hotel London

The St Pancras Renaissance Hotel opened on 14 March 2011 to guests, exactly 138 years after its original opening in 1873. The current hotel occupies much of the former Midland Grand Hotel designed by George Gilbert Scott after he won a design competition held by the Midland Railway Company to build a hotel at the station which they had recently opened at the southern terminus of its main line.  Drawing inspiration from Sir Charles Barry and Augustus Pugin’s Gothic Revival Palace of Westminster (now better known as the Houses of Parliament), which was nearing completion at the time, Scott submitted designs whose grandeur – and cost – went far beyond the Midland’s expectations.

In 1899, the hotel entrance hall was fitted with the first revolving door in Britain, supplied by its inventor, Theophilus Van Kannel.

The original hotel closed in 1935 and the building was used as railway offices until after major refurbishments starting in the 1990s saw planning permission granted in 2004 to convert the spaces back to a grand hotel. Hundreds of specialist craftspeople and painters, and conservation experts from across the UK were commissioned to revive the hotel.

The multiple private events rooms contain restored and breath-taking Victorian interiors while all being fitted with state-of-the-art technologies. The venues are able to host one-to-one appointments, interviews, workshops, seminars and receptions for up to 500 people. From boardroom meetings to corporate launches and everything in between, the hotel's tailored meetings and events are styled around your occasion.
