This morning the Veevers Carter team headed to the grand opening of New Covent Garden Market's new home in Nine Elms. After 40 years in the previous building, a stone’s throw away from the new site, the market and all the wholesalers have spent this weekend moving and settling into their new modern surroundings.
There was genuine excitement felt by everyone at the market
The new home will be a 'vibrant, bustling flower market in the heart of London'. Lots of new features adorn the new flower market, including an open-plan main area which is conditioned to a perfect 14°C, ensuring flowers stay fresher, for longer. New lighting provides 500 lux at floor level which will allow our florists to see each petal in the greatest detail and with a warm self-contained café their early morning trips will be made easier by a comforting cup of coffee.
This is the way wholesale flower buying should be.
Creative Director for Veevers Carter, Ming Veevers Carter, commented on the buzz in the air this morning and the genuine excitement felt by everyone at the market. Ming added that the bright and modern design puts the new site on par with the very best international flower markets.
Part of our florist’s daily lives, New Covent Garden Market holds a special place in our hearts. Especially after having created the market’s first installation at the RHS Chelsea Flower show last year, winning the Gold Medal in the process.
We were blown away by the Veevers Carter design for the Flower Market’s first foray into the world of Chelsea.
