Can you tell us a bit about your role?
We are a people business and we wouldn’t be able to deliver any of our amazing work without the hugely talented, diverse set of individuals that we are lucky enough to have working for us. My role is to ensure that people and processes are married up across IT, logistics, warehousing, front of house, facility and people teams. It helps us to continually deliver complex projects and retain the best talent in the industry.
Where else have you worked?
In construction, management consulting, financial services, digital agency and branding. I’ve run my own business and worked in other people’s ranging in size from 20 people through to huge corporate enterprises. There is always something valuable you can learn from the way another industry does things.
For the love of the show (our internal Motto!), this industry generates genuine passion in people. I’ve worked across a variety of industries and I can safely say that this one is unique. We have some truly gifted people that work for Event Concept and our sister brand Veevers Carter; they put their heart and soul into every event we produce and it shows in the quality of our work.
What’s your best piece of advice?
Love what you do. There is a real buzz about working in live events but you need to love it to succeed. Sometimes it’ll be hard work, and the hours can be long and unsociable. We look for genuine passion when we hire anyone to join our team.
When you’re not working, what do you get up to?
Walking in the woods with my children - I have two boys who have a lot of surplus energy to burn! Or else you’ll find me on my spin bike.
