On August 26th Ellie Goulding launched her latest performance, the Brightest Blue Experience, live streamed from the Victoria and Albert Museum, London. After months of pressing pause on many of our summer event plans it was wonderful and exhilarating to be able to safely bring this creative vision to life.
Ellie performed a number of tracks from her chart topping new album “Brightest Blue” as well as some fan favourites. She was joined by friends and collaborators Diplo, Lauv and blackbear, via video link, throughout the show.
The performance utilised the Museum’s prestigious galleries including the iconic Dome with its soaring ceiling and Chihuly central glass sculpture, the Medieval & Renaissance Gallery and the stunning John Madesjski Garden where Ellie performed from the centre of the ellipse water feature. Ellie was accompanied by an ensemble of live musicians and backing singers which brought her music alive in ways never heard before by fans.
We instantly loved Cate’s designs and immediately began applying our extensive venue knowledge to bring the vision to life in a Covid-safe environment.
Working in collaboration with Lighting Designer Cate Carter of Bryte Design, we delivered all lighting and production for the hour-long live stream. As an approved production supplier to the V&A Museum for over twenty years, all lighting and projection equipment was designed to comply with the strict conservation requirements.
James Connell, Director of Technical Production for Event Concept comments: ‘‘We instantly loved Cate’s designs and immediately began applying our extensive venue knowledge to bring the vision to life in a Covid-safe environment”.
‘’We used a combination of LED fixtures, including our proprietary Concept 6 and Concept 7 battery uplighters, SGM P-6’s, Martin Mac Aura XB’s and Robe Esprites to bring the design to life whilst keeping within the V&A strict requirements around heat and light levels, as well as giving us the ability to respond to last minute creative changes” says Connell. “The result was fantastic and provided high impact effects which looked incredible on camera”.
We also helped integrate guest performances from Diplo, Lauv and blackbear utilising Panasonic 12k and 20k laser projectors, which mapped custom content across the Medieval & Renaissance Gallery.
Carter comments: ‘’it was great to work alongside Event Concept again; their technical precision combined with adaptability when working in challenging spaces is second-to-none. Everyone was exceptionally happy with the results and Ellie really enjoyed the show.”
